Vodafone Ireland customers are being hit with a €60 annual price increase for their home broadband, TV and voice service plans from November.
he move will add €5 to monthly bills across 25 different plans, amounting to an extra €60 yearly. The company said not all customers would be affected but it is unclear how many in total the price rises will hit.
In a message directly to customers, Vodafone said affected customers would be told by SMS of the price change a minimum 30 days before their next bill.
The company told customers the increase “reflects our ongoing investment into upgrading our network and services and supporting the ever-growing demand for customers”.
Those wishing to cancel or change their plan can do so without penalty.
The price increase is the latest to hit Irish consumers, who are preparing for a winter of higher bills after a slew of price increases from gas and electricity companies.
Among the Vodafone packages affected, Home Unlimited +Vodafone TV Plus is the most expensive the company offers, at €90 a month – the new price hike sets it at €95 a month.
Vodafone Fixed services, such as Business Broadband, are also set to be affected by the same €5 a month price increase.
PAYG, Vodafone’s top-up service, is also increasing – albeit in a different manner and not until November 21.
Irish mobiles and landlines will maintain their 9c connection fee but will see an increase in the charge per minute – rising from 38 cent to 45.
Texts will increase from 18c per text to 22c.
Data will maintain its €1.99 for 100MB daily allowance fee but will see an increase after 100MB – rising from 1c per MB to 2c.
Vodafone said that this will not affect the price or allowances included in its top up offer, affecting only those that exceed their allowances on their plan or are not on Top Up offer to begin with.
Independent.ie asked Vodafone how many customers would be affected.
A spokesperson said: “At Vodafone Ireland, we continually review our products and services to ensure our customers have the best connectivity experience possible.
“From November 1st, 2022 prices for certain broadband packages will increase by €5 for some customers, which reflects our ongoing investment into upgrading our network and services and supporting the ever-growing demand for customers. This does not affect all Vodafone Home Broadband customers, any impacted customers will be contacted directly regarding the options available.
“These customers have the option to continue with their existing package or to cancel their contract with no penalty within 30 days of receiving the price change notification. Some customers may choose to upgrade their service to one of our market-leading Vodafone Fibre Broadband packages for €50 for the first 12months (from €60 thereafter) where they will receive up to 500mbps speeds, subject to Fibre-to-the-home eligibility.”
