The 2023 Wolf Prize in Mathematics went to Ingrid Daubechies, the James B. Duke Distinguished Professor of Mathematics and Electrical and Computer Engineering at Duke University, “for her work in wavelet theory and applied harmonic analysis.” Daubechies’ research has examined how images and signals are processed numerically. This, in turn, has led to a innovations in various technologies, such as medical imaging, wireless communication, and digital cinema.
