Preview and tips for Wellington meeting on Tuesday

How to play it: Madison Point WIN; Trifecta 6/2,5,13/2,5,13

Odds & Evens: SPLIT.

Race 3 – 2:25PM LSS LOCKSMITH & SECURITY COUNTRY MAIDEN PLATE (1400 METRES)

7. Hombre is bursting to win a race and was very unlucky at Coonamble last start. Gained second on protest and little doubt he should have won the race. Certainly no harder here and good chance to atone for that.

Dangers: 1. Avancer has had a few chances but there was merit in his run at Tamworth three weeks ago when a game second off a wide gate. Draw is a bit kinder to him here and is one of the main chances. 12. Wanderbetough was a drifter in betting on debut at Muswellbrook but found the line strongly into third late at 1000m. Extra trip looks a plus and is one to keep an eye on. 8. Life Well Lived caught the eye at Bathurst second-up then not disgraced at Mudgee a month ago. Blinkers on and up in trip and has to be considered.

How to play it: Hombre WIN; Trifecta 7/1,8,12/1,8,12

Odds & Evens: ODDS.

Race 4 – 3:05PM KFC WELLINGTON AND FORBES COUNTRY MAGIC HCP (1100 METRES)

3. Brief Statement won easily on a heavy track before a spell then resumed with a solid second at Coonamble, chasing hard to the line. Fitter and she should take plenty of beating.

Dangers: 1. Anselmo broke through at his 10th start with a popular win at Quirindi over Hombre who has obviously run well since. Consistent type and is one of the chances again. 5. No Debt has the blinkers on first time after being beaten as favourite at Parkes two months ago. Wide gate no help but worth keeping an eye on. 8. Laffing Waters was too speedy at Dubbo two runs back then freshened up and came from worse than midfield into third at Cowra. Racing well and is an each-way hope.

How to play it: Brief Statement WIN; Trifecta 3/1,5,8/1,5,8

Odds & Evens: ODDS.

Race 5 – 3:40PM WELLINGTON SOLDIERS MEMORIAL CLUB TOWN PLATE (1100 METRES)

1. Buckin’ Beauty is the best horse in the race and the 4kg claim is a huge plus. Got the job done first-up at Canterbury then solid effort behind Sixgun there a month ago. If she gets across she’ll take catching.

Dangers: 10. Cracking Mo is the up and comer of the field with Class 2 wins at Mudgee and Tamworth in February. Ticked over with a trial last week. Could keep it up. 8. Witness Collector had some support and got there in time to win at Dubbo a few weeks ago to make it three wins from his last five. Drawn well and shouldn’t be too far away. 4. Tobermory tends to race well fresh though his best form is up around a mile. Fitter for a recent trial and if he stays in touch gate one could see him in the finish.

How to play it: Buckin’ Beauty WIN

Odds & Evens: SPLIT.

Race 6 – 4:20PM KEIRLE’S PHARMACY IAN GIFFIN WELLINGTON CUP (1700 METRES)

5. Ita has come back in good form and appreciated the step up in trip when a solid third at Warwick Farm last week. On the back up, likes the sting out of the ground and can be expected to run well again.

Dangers: 1. Easy Campese is an honest on pacer who just found one better late at Canterbury a couple of weeks ago. Will roll forward and is one of the major players. 10. Shameonus is another on pacer and was a bit too strong at Orange last week. Will land on the speed again and has to be respected. 8. Notabadidea could easily bob up in a race like this. Not disgraced in the Quirindi Cup then the Orange Cup prelude. Each-way claims.

How to play it: Ita WIN; Trifecta 5/1,8,10/1,8,10

Odds & Evens: ODDS.

Race 7 – 4:55PM OVER THE LINE RACING WELLINGTON BOOT (1100 METRES)

9. Deep Expectation will be right on the speed from an inside gate and brings solid city form into this race. Bumped into a smart one at Canterbury last time but boxed on well and should be hard to run down.

Dangers: 13. Sweet Baby Boom made her debut in the same race, she led them up and held on evenly for third. Open to improvement given it was her first start and is the logical danger. 3. Last Bid Liam has done nothing wrong, led all the way at Dubbo then hit the lead 200m or so out and held them off at Coonamble two weeks ago in the Prelude. Wide gate a minus but otherwise has to be respected. 5. Spinosaurus was a drifter in betting at his only start back in October but was too strong at Muswellbrook. Trialled a few times recently and bears close watching.

How to play it: Deep Expectation WIN; Trifecta 9/3,5,13/3,5,13

Odds & Evens: ODDS.

Race 8 – 5:30PM KFC ZINGER BENCHMARK 66 HANDICAP (900 METRES)

5. Beauchamp pounced on the lead from gate one first-up for the new stable and was too good at Coonamble. That was 1100m so he’s back in trip but also drops 2kg for the class rise. Sure to be prominent again.

Dangers: 8. Vascotto hasn’t raced since October and resumes with no public trials. Was a heavy track winner two starts ago and kicked off last prep with a close second. Keep in mind. 1. I Am Capitan has a good first-up record and trialled very well behind Lockdown Gamble last week. Doesn’t win too often but has to be included. 4. Boom Boom Basil has trialled up quite nicely leading into this, has a handy first-up record and draws to have his chance.

How to play it: Beauchamp WIN

Odds & Evens: SPLIT.
