Predictions, Rumors, Leaks And More

It’s that time of the month again! Later this week we’ll find out which PS Plus Essential games will be released for subscribers in October.

Now that there are three tiers of PlayStation Plus it’s all a little more confusing. PS Plus Essential is the base tier that includes access to online gaming and typically three free PS4 and PS5 games each month.

These are usually revealed on the last Wednesday of the month and then released on the first Tuesday of the following month. So we’ll learn which games comprise October’s lineup on Wednesday September 28th, and then on Tuesday October 4th those games will become available.

Okay, let’s get to the leaks, rumors and predictions.

PS Plus October Leaks & Rumors

Once again, nothing has been leaked and not even a whiff of a rumor surrounds next month’s PS Plus games. I swear, this is completely hit or miss lately. Some months we get a full leak a week before the official announcement from Sony that’s 100% accurate. This month, not a peep.

We haven’t seen a fake leak in a good long time, either. Every now and then somebody puts together a mock “leak” that has some great games people want, but not so for October. No tricks or treats, it seems. So then on to . . .

PS Plus October Predictions

I always inject both my best guesses and my wishful thinking into this section of this monthly post. There are games I’d love to see added (even if I already own them, just so others can play them, too) and then there are educated guesses.

One way to make a good guess is to see what new games release on the first Tuesday of the month. On October 4th, Overwatch 2 comes out but that’s already free-to-play. Alfred Hitchcock — Vertigo also releases across numerous platforms, so that’s a possibility. The only other game I can find releasing that day is Dakar Desert Rally, a racing game that certainly could be a PS Plus release.

Another way to make an educated guess is to look at what sequels are coming out soon. Sometimes to drive hype for a new release, an older game in the series is put on PS Plus. A Call Of Duty title might make sense given Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare II is launching on October 28th.

Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order is another possibility, since that game has been out for quite some time now and a new game in the series is on the way. There’s also the Andor series airing on Disney+ at the moment, and the game actually explores a similar timeline and theme.

Then there are PS5 exclusives that have been out for a while and still haven’t come to PS Plus like Sackboy Adventures which is a monthly guess and will remain so until it finally hits the subscription service. Ghostwire Tokyo is another possibility, though very unlikely.

Here’s another possibility. Kena Bridge Of Spirits, a truly wonderful adventure game, has a big “Anniversary Update” coming out tomorrow (Tuesday) just one day before the big PS Plus reveal. It’s curious timing.

Wishful thinking includes:

  • Sifu
  • Hades
  • Alan Wake
  • Resident Evil Village
  • Devil May Cry 5
  • Nier Automata
  • Cuphead
  • Some horror games would be cool.

Stay tuned. I’ll update this post if anything does leak in the next couple days, and we’ll all have the answers we’re looking for Wednesday morning.

What games would you like to see on PS Plus in October? Let me know on Twitter or Facebook.
