Players have to find several Ominous Stakes to open a Shrine in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Well, here’s a location guide to help you find these.
Pokemon Scarlet & Violet has introduced many new legendary Pokemon, with four of them being found in Shrines scattered across the vast region of Paldea.
To open each individual Shrine, Trainers are required to find eight different Ominous Stakes found all around Paldea. These Stakes are not easy to find and will require a lot of searching in hidden places on the map, including on top of tall mountains and inside caves. It should also be noted you will at least need to have the ability to climb and swim with your Miraidon or Koraidon to reach all of these Stakes.
Grasswither Shrine Stake Locations
Grasswither Shrine is located in South Province (Area One) and is home to the Pokemon Wo-Chien, a Dual Dark/Grass-Type. In order to open this Shrine, you will need all eight Purple Ominous Stakes.

| First Purple Ominous Stake |  Can be found on top of a mountain south of the city of Los Platos. The Ominous Stake will be right beside a small rock, next to a lake. You can get to this location by flying to the Los Platos Pokemon Center and following the map to reach your destination. |
| Second Purple Ominous Stake |  The next Stake will also be on top of a small mountain northeast of Los Platos. Just like the previous Stake, you can fly to the Los Platos Pokemon Center and head to the location marked on the map. |
| Third Purple Ominous Stake |  Just a bit more northeast will be the third Stake. This will be at the very top of a layered, circular mountain. You can start from the previous Stake location and head toward the marked location on the map. It might take some time to reach the top of the mountain. |
| Fourth Purple Ominous Stake |  The next can be found in South Province (Area One). It will be on the very top of the mountain above the Grasswither Shrine. To reach this area, you can fly to the South Province (Area Five) Pokemon Center. Head west to reach the mountaintop. |
| Fifth Purple Ominous Stake |  Can be found just before the small building leading into South Province (Area Three). It will be located just behind this building. You can reach this spot by flying to the Mesagoza (South) Pokemon Center. Head east from here, and you should be able to find it from the marked location on the map. |
| Sixth Purple Ominous Stake |  This will be the first Stake located in the South Province (Area Three) location. It can be found on top of a tall rock structure. Take the Mesagoza (East Gate) Pokemon Center to easily reach this location. Head northeast to find this spot, and climb up the structure to reach the top. |
| Seventh Purple Ominous Stake |  The next will also be found in South Province (Area Three), right outside the city of Artazon. It’ll be at the top of a small rock structure. Fly to the Artazon (West) Pokemon Center, and just head south on the map. It will be the first structure that you see. |
| Eighth Purple Ominous Stake |  The last Stake will be found right at the beginning of East Province (Area One). It will be on top of the tall green cliff. Fly to the South Province (Area Three) Watchtower, and head north from here. Make your way up the first tall rock structure, and then jump across to the cliff. |
Icerend Shrine Stake Locations
The Icerend Shrine is home to the Legendary Pokemon Chien-Pao, a Dual Dark/Ice-Type. To unlock this Shrine and begin your battle with Chien-Pao, you will need to find all eight Yellow Ominous Stakes.

| First Yellow Ominous Stake |  Located in South Province (Area Six), on a small platform underneath a cliff. You can start by flying to the Alfornada Pokemon Center, and from there, head directly east until you reach the river. Jump from the cliff to reach the platform underneath. |
| Second Yellow Ominous Stake |  The second Stake will also be underneath a cliff on a platform. It is located in South Province (Area Six), just a bit northeast. You can either fly to the Alfornada Pokemon Center or the Leaking Tower of Paldea fast-travel location. From there, just head northeast up the rocky incline until you reach the location on the map. You will want to jump down to the platform below. |
| Third Yellow Ominous Stake |  The next Stake can be accessed through a cave underground. The location of this stake is very close on the map to the previous one and is just a bit northeast. To reach the cave, go southeast from the Stake location on the map. It will be located low to the ground and in a gravelly area with a small lake. It will be located right in the middle of this cave. |
| Fourth Yellow Ominous Stake |  Can be found on another small platform below a cliff. It will be located in West Province (Area One), just north of the previous Stake location. First, fly to the West Province (Area One) – Central Pokemon Center, and from here, you will want to go southeast. Make your way up the tall mountain until you reach the pinned location on the map. Just below the mountain will be a small platform with the Stake. |
| Fifth Yellow Ominous Stake |  Located in West Province (Area One), in the middle of a crater. As with the others, it can be found deep below a cliff. Fly to the West Province (Area One) – Central Pokemon Center, and head northwest. When you reach the labeled location, you will see a deep drop off a cliff. In the middle of this area is a small platform where the Stake is located. |
| Sixth Yellow Ominous Stake |  Located in the West Province (Area One) region. You will be able to find it nearby to some ruins and an old watchtower. Start by flying to the West Province (Area One) – North Pokemon Center. From here, head east until you see the ruins. Then, head southeast until you see a small platform you can climb, where the Stake is located. |
| Seventh Yellow Ominous Stake |  The next can be found a bit southeast of the previous. It will be hidden in a small crevice nearby to the cliff of a mountain. You can reach this Stake by heading southeast from the last Stake. When you reach the labeled location on the map, just drop off the cliff until you reach the ground. You will find the Stake tucked away here. |
| Eighth Yellow Ominous Stake |  The last Stake will be located just outside the city of Cascarrafa. It will be hidden behind a tree on the top floor of the city. Fly to the Cascarrafa (West) Pokemon Center and take the elevator up. Start heading towards the lake area until you see a few trees behind the Gym. The Stake will be behind the largest tree. |
Groundblight Shrine Stake Locations
Home to the Legendary Pokemon Ting-Lu, a Dual Dark/Ground-Type, is the Groundblight Shrine. This is located on Socorrat Trail, which can be found at the top of the Paldean map. You will need to find all eight Green Ominous Stakes to open this Shrine.
Firescourge Shrine Stake Locations
Firescourge Shrine is where Trainers can find the Legendary Pokemon, Chi-Yu, a Dual Dark/Fire-Type. In order to battle and catch this legendary, you will need to find all eight Blue Ominous Stakes.
