Piaget Updates An Iconic Design With New Green Polo Watches

Throughout the pandemic Piaget was largely quiet as the company was in a transitional phase. Chabi Nouri, the first woman to lead a Richemont-owned watch brand, was replaced in 2021 by Benjamin Comar, who last served as CEO of the French high jewelry brand, Repossi.

As part of Comar’s plan to revive the luxury jewelry and watch brand, he made some strategic hiring decisions. He brought in Fatti Laleh, an experienced luxury marketing and advertising professional, as global director of communications and image, and Greg Weeter, who spent 23 years with Bulgari, as Piaget’s new president of Americas.

As the company rolls out new campaigns and products, much of the focus is being placed on the company’s iconic Polo watch collection, a luxury sports watch first designed by Yves G. Piaget in 1979. It was a watch design that fit Yves Piaget’s passion for the equestrian world and the glamour and luxury associated with the sport. It was a chic sports watch that attracted a range of celebrities in all fields of endeavor, including Miles Davis, Ursula Andress, Andy Warhol and Bjorn Borg.

The newest versions of the Polo watch retain the iconic rounded square-shaped case and adds some additional details that the luxury brand hopes will attract younger watch aficionados who may not be familiar with the brand’s impressive heritage. Among them are two green-colored models, as green is becoming the new blue in the world of watches.

The Piaget Polo Date features a green dial crafted with guilloché ridges, a standard Polo design detail, along with dauphine hands, luminescent applied hour-markers and a date window at 6 o’clock. The dial is housed within a 42mm rose gold case and bezel with contrasting polished and satin-brushed finishes. The second hand is decorated with an openworked letter “P,” the symbol of the Swiss watchmaker.

The watch is powered by the in-house caliber 1110P automatic movement engraved with a Piaget coat of arms on a slate grey rotor that can be seen through the sapphire crystal caseback. It has a 50-hour power reserve.

Recently Piaget introduced a skeletonized version of the Polo. The green openworked dial is topped with dauphine hands in an openworked profile. The dial is housed in the 42mm stainless steel case. The watch is powered by the caliber 1110P in-house automatic movement with an engraved Piaget coat of arms on a slate grey rotor. It has a 44-hour power reserve.

The watch comes with a steel bracelet that is interchangeable with a green alligator strap.

Both models are available in several colors and a mix of materials. They range in price from $11,600 to $52,000.
