New Mahindra Scorpio-N Vs Tata Safari: Features, specs, price comparison


Mahindra & Mahindra finally launched the highly-anticipated new Scorpio-N in the Indian market on June 27, with bookings set to commence on 30th July 2022, and deliveries expected to start from the festival season onwards. Considering the equipment and powertrains it offers for the price, the Scorpio-N will give tough competition to both 5-seat, as well as 7-seat mid-size SUVs in the market.
The Tata Safari is one such SUV that the 2022 Scorpio-N will put up against. Here is a detailed specification, feature, and price comparison between the two mighty SUVs, take a look –
Dimensions
The Mahindra Scorpio-N measures 4,662 mm in length, 1,917 mm in width, stands 1,857 mm tall and has a 2,750 mm long wheelbase. In contrast, the Tata Safari has a length of 4,661 mm, a width of 1,894 mm, a height of 1,786 mm, and a 2,741 mm long wheelbase.

In contrast, Mahindra is offering the Scorpio-N with a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine that makes 132 PS/300 Nm in its lower state of tune, and 175 PS/370 Nm (400 Nm with AT) in the higher tune; along with a 2.0-litre turbocharged mStallion petrol motor putting out 203 PS of max power and 370 Nm of peak torque (380 Nm with AT). Moreover, the Scorpio-N is a rear-wheel drive (RWD) body-on-frame SUV, with optional 4WD setup on the diesel powertrain.

The Tata Safari’s safety suite consists of 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Hill Hold Control, Traction Control, Roll Over Mitigation, Corner Stability Control, Brake Disc Wiping, ABS with EBD, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, reverse parking camera, Hill Descent Control, ISOFIX child-seat mounts, etc.
The new Scorpio-N, on the other hand, comes equipped with four disc brakes, 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), driver drowsiness detection, collapsible steering system, ABS with EBD, 360-degree camera, Hill Hold Control, Hill Descent Control, front and rear parking sensors, TPMS, all 4 disc brakes, Mechanical Locking Differential, electronically controlled Brake Locking Differential, and ISOFIX & i-SIZE compatibility.

The entry-level diesel MT variant of the Mahindra Scorpio-N undercuts the corresponding Tata Safari base model by over Rs 2.75 lakh. However, the top-end diesel AT 4WD variant of the Mahindra Scorpio-N could actually be more expensive than the range-topping Tata Safari XZA+ trim.
