MAFS: Jesse from Married at First Sight shocks audience with his list of ‘icks’ in women
We’re only into the second episode of Married at First Sight but the drama continues to unfold as we are introduced to two new couples — Sandy and Dan, and Jesse and Claire.
Sandy and Dan’s relationship seems like one Australia could get behind, but the same can’t be said for Jesse and Claire, more specifically Jesse.
However, Jesse isn’t exactly new to PerthNow readers as he was lucky enough to make it on Blind Date back in 2021, and to no surprise, he didn’t exactly make the best first impression with his date.
And the heavy metal-loving groom hasn’t made the best first impression on MAFS with viewers.
The 30-year-old marriage celebrant was quick to rub viewers the wrong way when he was happy to bring out a paper containing a list to remind him “of just how much icks me about dating.”
His long list of icks include:
- “Girls who are addicted to their phones and social media
- Anyone girl who calls me honey or sweetie
- Chicks who are always talking, or interrupt you
- Any girl who starts a sentence with ‘Oh my God babe’
- Star sign chicks
- Mirror selfies
- Gym photos
- Chicks who pout”
He does acknowledge he is picky and has high standards, so girls if you’re looking for a guy who’s brutally honest and self-aware, Jesse might be the guy for you.
Despite all the deal breakers listed when the two couples met they seemed to be a match made in heaven and Jesse made sure to constantly remind us of how “ungodly hot” and “stupidly hot” Claire is.
Unfortunately for the kindergarten garden assistant, that’s the only feature he seems to see in her as he has failed to mention any other positive qualities in Claire.
However, it didn’t take long for him to turn that all around when Claire mentioned her passion for astrology and crystal healing at their wedding reception and we all know how Jesse feels about that!
“Oh f**king hell, she’s a star sign chick,” Jesse confessed to the cameras.
But the real deal breaker was when Claire revealed she had a crystal hidden in her bra.
“Oh man, the star signs, that’s a turn-off. And I’m realising how much she has started to tick me off. We’re in ick territory,” Jesse told cameras just before Claire pulled him aside for a one-on-one and gifted him a crystal.
In spite of the clear disgust on Jesse’s face when Claire gifted him a crystal he admitted he will try to make more of an effort to respect her interest.
“It’s not gonna change in 24 hours, but when someone is that hot, I need to try as best I can,” he said.
As the couple headed to their honeymoon in the Whitsundays, tensions between them began to rise when Jesse made his new wife cry by telling he her to “shush.”
“(Jesse) should be taking this time to get to know me on a deeper level… It sucks. Like, I don’t want to be the needy girl that just always is wanting more. It confuses me, like, am I literally asking for too much? Do I need to just shush?” Claire asks the cameras while breaking down in tears.
There are speculations the couple may have called it quits after Claire appeared by herself on Today Extra on Wednesday morning, when usually the MAFS couples appear together.
According to rumours, one of 2023’s grooms is even more of a villain season eight’s Bryce Ruthven, who arguably became the most hated groom in MAFS Australia history — so is Jesse the mystery groom?
