There has been a bit of an “oopsie” with some Lightfall Collector’s Editions, as some fans have gotten their Destiny 2 expansion bundles early.
Of course this doesn’t mean they can play Lightfall early, as that’s something Bungie has to upload to the game, but it does mean they’ve gotten access to thinks like extensive lore books full of info and puzzles that lead to emblem codes. Emblem codes that almost anyone can redeem, now that they’ve been found.
There are five codes in total, but only four of them are globally redeemable, and the fifth is for only that specific own of the Collector’s Edition, I believe. Click on the links to redeem them after signing into your Bungie account.
So far as I can tell, we do not know what these emblems actually look like. You can redeem them now, but you cannot actually view or equip them yet, not until Destiny 2 actually launches Lightfall itself on February 28.
The main focus of the lore book is a lot of Caiatl stuff, some interesting ideas about that sea worm on Titan and a vivid description of Calus’ nipples. Yes, for real.
I am not going to go too deep into the lore stuff yet, as this being released early sort of puts this into spoiler territory. But I will say Bungie usually designs these lore books not to really give all that much away about the storyline of the upcoming expansion itself, they’re usually just for further character exploration or additional worldbuilding. I’ll probably do a full readthrough and come back with a report later on. Or I’ll just watch the eventual Byf video like everyone else.
The central mysteries about Neomuna itself will likely only be discovered through the game, post-release. The gist of it is that Neumuna is a secret human colony that avoided the collapse and as such, ascended past the Golden Age to uh, the Platinum Age? They’re pretty shiny. They have figured out a way to gain power by shortening their lifespans to become “Cloudstriders” outside of Light and Darkness abilities. They have some sort of nanomachine tech that seems like what SIVA might have been if it wasn’t evil. Quicksilver Storm uses it. Strand, meanwhile, is something that our Guardian specifically must discover, and it’s been hinted that Osiris might be our guide in this quest.
More to come, get those codes.
