The updated Hyundai i30 Sedan N Line has debuted in South Korea with a revised look and the option of hybrid power for the first time.
The updated 2024 Hyundai i30 Sedan N Line has been unveiled in its home market, ahead of first Australian showroom arrivals scheduled later this year.
The N Line continues to sit between standard and high-performance N versions of the i30 Sedan, with sporty interior and exterior styling and higher standard equipment levels.
It will be available in an optional 1.6-litre hybrid form for the first time, in addition to a familiar 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine.
As previously reported by Drive, Hyundai dealers have been told to expect first arrivals of the updated turbo-petrol i30 Sedan N Line in November or December 2023 – after regular 2.0-litre petrol versions arrive in the coming weeks – ahead of the hybrid between March and June 2024.
The revised N Line is distinguished by restyled front and rear bumpers – derived from the hero i30 Sedan N, but with silver instead of red highlights – plus new 18-inch black wheels, black side skirts, a black rear spoiler, and twin exhaust tips.
Inside, the N Line-branded leather steering wheel and gear shifter carry over from the previous model, along with the leather-trimmed sports seats.
New features shared with the regular i30 Sedan update include a larger wireless smartphone charging pad, improved interior materials, and support for Hyundai’s Bluelink technology, which allows for remote unlocking and vehicle tracking from a phone app, among other features.
There is also a digital key function available in South Korea, and rear-side torso airbags in addition to the rear window curtain airbags for head protection.
Dealers have been advised all updated i30 Sedan N Line variants will be fitted with LED headlights as standard – with more advanced projector LED headlight technology in top-of-the-range versions, and reflector-type LEDs in base models.
The current i30 Sedan N Line is fitted with LED headlights on the Premium model only; the base N Line uses ageing halogen headlight technology.
Powering regular petrol versions will be a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with carry-over outputs of 150kW and 265Nm, driving the front wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Australian Hyundai dealers have been advised the six-speed manual gearbox will be dropped for the updated model, after it accounted for three per cent of i30 Sedan N Line sales in 2022.
The hybrid is set to combine a 1.6-litre non-turbo four-cylinder petrol engine with a 34kW electric motor, compact battery pack and a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission for outputs of 104kW and 265Nm, and claimed fuel economy overseas of 5.2 litres per 100 kilometres.
The 2024 Hyundai i30 Sedan N Line is due in Australian showrooms in the coming months.
