The sub-compact SUV segment has witnessed two new launches this month – the new 2022 Maruti Suzuki Brezza which made its debut in the country today, as well as the new Hyundai Venue facelift that was launched on June 16. The first-gen Vitara Brezza and the pre-facelift Venue have been the biggest rivals in the segment, and the updates will only make the competition more fierce.

The new-gen Maruti Brezza measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,790 mm in width, stands 1,685 mm tall and has a 2,500 mm long wheelbase. The Hyundai Venue has a similar overall length of 3,995 mm, a width of 1,770 mm, a height of 1,617 mm, and a wheelbase that measures 2,500 mm in length.

Powertrains
Powering the new-gen Brezza is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that comes with mild-hybrid tech. The engine produces 103 PS power and 137 Nm torque, and can be had with either a 5-speed manual gearbox, or an optional 6-speed torque converter automatic.

The Hyundai Venue is offered with three different engines – a 1.2-litre NA petrol motor rated at 83 PS/114 Nm; a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine that makes 120 PS and 172 Nm; and a 1.5-litre diesel engine churning out 100 PS of max power and 240 Nm of peak torque.

In contrast, the Hyundai Venue comes equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, Home to car (H2C) with Alexa & Google Voice Assistant (English and Hindi language support) and 60+ Bluelink connected features, a segment-first 2 step rear reclining seat, a 4-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, auto air purifier, paddle shifters, an electric sunroof, wireless phone charger, ambient lighting and a fully digital instrument cluster with colour TFT MID.
Safety
On the safety front, the 2022 Brezza is being offered with up to 6 airbags, a 360-degree camera, ABS with EBD, electronic stability program, ISOFIX child seat anchors, Hill-hold assist, reverse parking sensors, etc.
The new Hyundai Venue’s safety suite consists of up to 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, a rear parking camera, Electronic Stability Control, Highline Tyre Pressure Monitoring Systern, Hill-assist control, and so on.
Price
Pricing for the new Maruti Brezza starts from Rs 7.99 lakh for the LXI variant, going all the way up to Rs 13.96 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom Delhi) for the top-end ZXI+ automatic dual-tone model.
